I was so elated to meet the Bird Buddy and see those vids. Then the crashing letdown. Ugh.

The squirrels in my area eat all the bird seed and then destroy my feeders. They are vicious little critters!

Vicious! Why do they destroy the feeders? Didn't they just derive a benefit from having an undestroyed feeder?

I've taken photographs of the feeders they've destroyed. I feel slightly bad for them, and hope they haven't digested all of the plastic that's missing from the feeders! I wish it were possible to be able to attach the photos here for you to see! They are eliminating their feeding stations. Smart at getting to the source but dumb enough to destroy it?

I have seen some of the birds on my feeder dive bomb the squirrels. It will keep them at bay for a while, but the squirrels always come back.

I am told that you can but spicy seed that the birds don’t taste but the squirrels hate. If you wanted to renew your efforts at this.

I ran out but ordered some more from Amazon. The squirrels seem to know when "the heat is on".

Love this story! I’ve discovered birds myself this year and have battled squirrels, chipmunks and raccoons! I’ve been documenting everything that’s been going on in my backyard this year and it’s a lot of fun to watch! I also hate rodents!

I've learned, through my bird feeding career that the squirrels can never be defeated. It's best to just surrender to them. Now I've got high feeders for the birds, low for the squirrels, and they all seem to get along. Of course when surrendering in such a way the bird food bill goes up considerably!

My cousin’s husband helped get the bird Buddy off the ground- he’s in some kind of IT or computer field. I have loved seeing her posts of the birds at the feeder! She must not have many squirrels in her neighborhood. My mom has so many squirrels I’m imagining this wouldn’t last a week at her house. She even got special feeders just for the squirrels, but they still raid the bird seed.

I like the idea above about getting spicy birdseed!! It’s true that birds don’t taste the spice. I have pet birds and they love jalapeños and their seeds lol
