Yes, but you see, there was a much worse guy in the movie- Robbie Gould, with whom Baby’s sister, Lisa, hooked up. Therefore, by default, Johnny becomes the hero. Trust the science.

I remember reading The Fountainhead because of Robbie Gould, thinking that it would be salacious. He even had notes in the margins! What a let down.

Revisiting this now as an adult, your take is so obvious.

When I watched it as a kid, I was enthralled and wanted to be that girl.

Crazy what we used to accept. 🤯

This is—without a doubt—the best and most accurate review of Dirty Dancing I have ever seen. I hate this stupid movie.

Some frustration days I feel like Johnny Castle when he gets rage at locking his keys in the car, kicks & stomps a parking peg outta the ground, then breaks the window while This Overload plays in the background.

Well, shoot, Brian. I’d never once thought about their age difference. Way to gross me out!

Neil: "I'm sorry you had to see that, Baby. Sometimes in this world... you see things you don't wanna see."

"Dirty Dancing" (1987)

At a 1960s Catskills resort, a teenage girl vacationing with family hits the dance floor with a hot instructor, and summers would never be the same. Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze starred in the hit romance that earned the Jennifer Warnes-Bill Medley song "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" an Oscar and a Grammy.

I sit in horror at the thought of this movie. At my high school graduation in 1988, the class historian, a mousy girl that likely related to Baby, spent her entire talk about Dirty Dancing and how our high school days were just like this movie.

I hadn't seen the movie, but watched it years later with my wife. She had been enthralled with the movie when it came out, and I tried to point out various huge issues with the movie, many covered here, and she defended everything, including the age inappropriate relationship.

I saw only segments of this dumb movie, long ago, before I had a daughter. I always refused to watch it ever since. Now I know why.

I loved this movie as a teenager, but also loved this piece too! Now that I'm a mom of teens, not sure it would play the same for me as it once did.

I never watched the movie. But it does sound like a nightmare for anyone with a moral compass.

Amazingly, the girls love this movie. It's spawned a whole industry.

Gotta be their deepest fantasy, or something.

Yeah. I never got it. For a while there, every girl I dated or knew thought this was the greatest movie ever.
